OANDA was founded in 1996 by computer scientist Dr. Michael Stumm and economics Dr. Richard Olsen. As early as 1996, OANDA was the first company to provide comprehensive currency exchange information over the Internet, and in 2001 helped pioneer the development of Internet-based currency transactions. In 2011, the firm established an office in London, which serves as its European headquarters, and in 2012 added several CFDs to the portfolio, allowing clients in certain markets to trade more commodities, precious metals, indices and bonds . In 2014, OANDA opened an office in Sydney and in 2015 became the largest foreign forex broker in Japan. In 2018, the company was acquired by leading private equity firm CVC Capital Partners, and in 2020 OANDA entered into an agreement to acquire a 100% stake in leading multi-asset brokerage TMS, setting the stage for growth in the Baltics and Eastern Europe. OANDA is regulated by a number of regulatory agencies, including the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the National Futures Association (NFA), Japan's Financial Services Agency (FSA), and the Canadian Investment Industry Regulatory Organization (IIROC), and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).

Leverage & Account
OANDA provides investors with two account types: Standard Account and Supreme Account. The maximum leverage for foreign exchange is 1:20, and the trading leverage for index products is 1:5 to 1:20. The trading leverage of metals and commodities is 1:5, and the trading leverage of bond products is also 1:5.
Spread & Commission Fees
Competitive spreads on major and minor currency pairs in Forex. Spreads start from 0.6 pips for EUR/USD, 1.0 pips for USD/JPY and 1.3 pips for EUR GBP. The spread is 3 for Brent and 25 for gold.
