The Central Bank of Brazil is Brazil's highest monetary authority, as well as Brazil's financial and economic authority. The Central Bank of Brazil was established on December 31, 1964, and the central bank is associated with the Ministry of Finance. Like other central banks, the Central Bank of Brazil is the country's main monetary authority. The Central Bank was created by three different institutions, the Monetary and Credit Bureau (SUMOC), the Bank of Brazil (BB), and the National Treasury, from which it acquired the powers of the Central Bank. One of the tools of Brazilian monetary policy is the Banco Central do Brasil’s SELIC.
The Federative Republic of Brazil, referred to as Brazil, is the largest country in South America and its capital is Brasilia. The currency used in Brazil is the Real, code BRL.
