The State Bank of Pakistan is the central bank of Pakistan. The constitution of the Central Bank of Pakistan was originally formulated under the State Bank of Pakistan Act 1948 and was basically unchanged until it was nationalized on January 1, 1974. After nationalization, the functions of the Central Bank of Pakistan have been greatly expanded. The State Bank of Pakistan Act 1956 and several subsequent amendments laid the foundation for the operation of the central bank of Pakistan today.
The Islamic Republic of Pakistan is located in the northwest of the South Asian subcontinent, and the currency used is the Pakistani rupee.
