The Central Bank of Nigeria Act 1958 stipulates that the main objectives of the Central Bank of Nigeria are: to issue legal tender, to manage the country's external reserves, to maintain a stable currency and a sound financial environment, to serve as the highest governing body of the banking industry and the federal government financial advisor.
