The Austrian National Bank (OeNB) is the central bank of the Republic of Austria and is therefore an integral part of the European System of Central Banks (ESCB) and the Eurozone. In the public interest, the Austrian National Bank contributes to monetary and economic policy decisions in Austria and the Eurozone. According to the Federal Act on the National Bank of Austria, the bank is a joint-stock company. However, given its status as a central bank, it is governed by some special provisions set out in the National Bank Act. The Austrian National Bank has a total capital of 12 million euros, of which half is funded by the federal government and half is owned by employers and employee organizations as well as banks and insurance companies.
The Republic of Austria, referred to as "Austria", is a parliamentary republic located in central Europe. Vienna, the capital, is the largest city in Austria with a population of more than 1.7 million. The common currency is the Euro.
