Bank of Tanzania, the central bank of the United Republic of Tanzania

Bank of Tanzania is the central bank of the United Republic of Tanzania. The Central Bank of Tanzania is responsible for issuing the Tanzanian shilling, the country's legal tender. The Central Bank of Tanzania was established under the Tanzania Banking Act 1965, but in 1995 the government deemed the Central Bank of Tanzania to have too many mandates that prevented the Central Bank of Tanzania from achieving other objectives. To this end, the Tanzanian government, through the Bank of Tanzania Act 1995, stipulates the single main objective of the Central Bank of Tanzania, namely monetary policy.
The United Republic of Tanzania is located in eastern Africa, south of the equator, and the currency used is the Tanzanian Shilling, code TZS.
